I’m With Arnie on This One

I’m With Arnie on This One

Arnold Schwarzenegger has not done many positive things for the state of California, but he does speak the truth when he speaks of California’s significance as a state and destination. Tuesday night, our Governor was speaking at a conference, encouraging people to invest in California (specifically the infrastructure of Silicon Valley). He talked up the state’s allure and commented on how “Florida is known for old people” and how nobody ever says “I can’t wait to get to Iowa.”

Barack Obama he is not, but remember, his most notable lines as an actor are “I’ll be back”, “It’s not a tumor” and “If it jiggles, it’s fat.” Here, Arnie has a valid point. California has great weather, great industries and great opportunities. For the multifamily investor, this is perhaps the most important trifecta in attracting residents. There has to be jobs, there has to be growth potential and yes, the weather is just the icing on the cake.

In a year in which we will elect our next state Governor, it is important to choose the candidate that will cut spending, create jobs and operate California like a successful business so as to attract more businesses. In the meantime, we can sit back and watch as Arnie does what he does best: attract and entertain.
